Når: Mandag 29. mai, kl. 19.15-20.15
Hvor: Olav H. Hauge, Litteraturhuset, Bergen
In collaboration with Bergen International Festival.
In the course of a 30 year-long career, Kaija Saariaho has established herself as one of the most highly respected and performed composers of the world. She is this year's Festival Composer and Artist in Residence.
When one of Saariaho's operas was staged in New York last year, it was the first time since 1903 that The Meteropolitan Opera staged an opera composed by a woman.
“It just shows how slowly these things evolve. But they are evolving – in all fields, also in music”, she says.
She meets Norwegian composers Rebecka Ahvenniemi and Rune Rebne to discuss the gender gap in composition, in this conversation led by Artistic Director of the Borealis Festival, Peter Meanwell.
Supported by Fritt Ord, FINNO, The Norwegian-Finnish Cultural Foundation and The Sibelius Society of Norway.
Sponsored by Bergens Tidende.
